[Profiles] Alice Eve Biography -The daughter of actors Trevor Eve and Sharon Maughan
Eve has starred in television dramas including the BBC’s The Rotters’ Club, Poirot and Hawking, as well as the film Stage Beauty (2004).
Eve played significant roles in two 2006 films: Starter for 10 and Big Nothing (with both her and co-star Simon Pegg using American accents). She spent the early part of 2006 in India working on a new drama mini-series Losing Gemma about backpackers.
Eve has appeared in two plays, both directed by Trevor Nunn. In 2006 she appeared in Rock ‘n’ Roll, a new play by Tom Stoppard at the Royal Court Theatre and reprised her role in the 2007 Broadway transfer. For her performance she was nominated for the best supporting actress award at the Whatsonstage.com Theatregoers’ Choice Awards. In 2009 she played Roxane in a production of Cyrano de Bergerac at the Chichester Festival Theatre.
She appeared in the 2010 U.S. film She’s Out of My League (in the film, her parents play the roles of her character’s parents) and will appear in the 2010 U.S. film Sex and the City 2.
Eve also aspires to be a screenwriter. Eve said that her grandmother Betsy was her biggest inspiration out of everyone in her life. “My grandma Betsy was just always there for me” she told reporter Abie Mishaan for Esquire Magazine. Grandma Betsy died in September 2007 and it was extremely difficult for Alice.
Eve lives in London and New Jersey . She has dated Ben Adams and Rafe Spall whom she met while working on The Rotters Club. She was once named sixth most eligible woman in Britain by Tatler magazine. In 2001 she dated Phil Lin from Rancid. In April 2009 she started dating a poet, Adam O’Riordan, whom she met when they were both undergraduates at Oxford. She also has two different color eyes (heterochromia), one blue and one green.

Liv Tyler goes out on a limb for 'The Ledge' & talks about her rock-star father

If you've been wondering why actress Liv Tyler has been missing from the kind of blockbuster movies that she made early in her film career, it's because she has been spending the past few years for more personal time and fulfilling the most important role of her life: being a mother to her son, Milo. Tyler has not stopped making movies, but the movies she has been doing lately are low-budget independent films that get limited releases in theaters but are more widely available through video on demand. One of these movies is The Ledge, an emotional thriller that tells the story of how a hotel manager named Gavin (played by Charlie Hunnam) ends up contemplating suicide on the ledge of a high-rise building. As Gavin begins to explain his motives to a cop (played by Oscar nominee Terrence Howard), who has been called to the scene to prevent Gavin from jumping, it is revealed that Gavin's married neighbors Joe and Shana (played respectively by Patrick Wilson and Tyler) have a lot to do with why Gavin is on the ledge. I caught up with Tyler at the New York City press junket for The Ledge, where she talked about the difficult but rewarding challenges of making the movie, which presents opposing viewpoints of being a Christian and being an atheist. I also asked her to share her thoughts on her father, Steven Tyler (lead singer of Aerosmith), and what she thinks of his 2011 memoir and his role as a judge on American Idol.
In both Super and The Ledge, you play a recovering drug addict who leaves her husband for someone else. Is that a coincidence?
That was a complete coincidence, yes.
What was it about Shana in The Ledge that you really responded to and what motivated you to play this character?
I actually met Matthew Chapman, the director [of The Ledge] over four years ago for the first time. I read the script and just had never read anything quite like it before. I was intrigued by the characters and their flaws and all the things that they are going through. They tried to get the movie made, and years later it all just came together at the last second. I happen to be friends with Charlie [Hunnam]. One of my best friends is the cinematographer [Bobby Bukowski]. And they all went to make the movie. And I suddenly felt left out of the movie. I kind of shouted out, "Oh God! 'The Ledge.' Shana! Wait!" Then Matthew heard I was asking about it again and he wrote a very nice letter saying that I had always his vision for the character and saying [if I would] get on a plane to Baton Rouge and make a movie with him. I packed my bags and left I think four days later. It was a very small-budget, very few days to shoot. There was a lot of material to get done that short period of time but it was worth it.
How was it working with Charlie Hunnam, since that you two were already friends before working together on The Ledge?
Really good. How do I describe Charlie? He's a very thoughtful, stand-up guy. He was raised very well: English stock. He's just a good man. He's very considerate of everyone around him and hard working. He cared a lot about this project. He worked a very long time with Matthew to get this made and all that stuff.
When you first read the script, did you like Shana right away?
Yeah, I was very intrigued by her, especially at that time. I had never played a part like that before - just the complexities. As a younger woman, I might not have understood her in a way I do now. I think the thing that resonated so much with me after having made this film was this idea in life that we're so quick to judge others, like, "Oh, look at what he's wearing or what he believes in" or "That's weird." You have all these thoughts about people, yet you really have no idea what someone has been through and who they are. Life is long and complicated. A lot of things happen, particularly with religion and politics, some people have very strong beliefs. We might not always understand them. But I recognized that in my character and in myself while I was playing her for a month in Louisiana that we're all just trying to cope in life and find a way through good and bad situations and those beliefs that these characters have. Gavin has the beliefs that he has because of loss and pain that he's been through. He lost a belief in something bigger than himself because he's so hurt. Patrick [Wilson's] character has this sort of opposite thing he's put all his focus and attention in redeeming himself through this religion. I'm not so quick to judge people in the same kind of way. [The Ledge] opened my eyes, for sure.
Do you keep a character in your psyche, even after you're finished playing the character?
Yeah, coming home from filming is always intense - not only because you've spent this long amount of time as another character but because you're working so intensely. Nothing else exists in your world but making that movie, so when it's over you're definitely feeling a sense of loss or readjustment, for sure. It does take a while to shed being in that head space of somebody else all the time. It's also really exciting and great to be done with it and move on.
Did the cast and crew The Ledge try to lighten the mood to ease up on the heavy tone of the movie?
We just didn't have any time. We shot this film in less than a month. We would work and work and work. There was a lot of dialogue to do each day. We would generally go home and memorize lines and go right back to work. I liked to go to the bar at the corner and have a whiskey, relax when I could, and listen to the jukebox, which was great in the little town of Baton Rouge. But we didn't much "letting our hair down."

I do? Thank you.
Was that something Matthew Chapman told you to do, or was it just something you did on your own?
It's not that calculated. I am the character and I'm just observing the situation, so whatever happens happens. I might have an idea sometimes about something specifically I want to do. "Look No. 31," but generally it's really not that thought-out.
What did you think of the notion that Gavin has that seducing women is about putting an idea into their heads. You think there is any validity to that theory?
I'd rather just keep in context with film, if that's OK. I don't like talking about how it pertains to [people in general]. It depends on the situation, I suppose. It depends on who the man is.
Do you think it was Gavin's male fantasy that this technique would work in seducing a woman?
That's interesting. We'll have to ask Matthew Chapman, because he wrote that. Obviously, he believes that. It's an interesting question. Putting it towards Shana, it's just that she's so locked up in her world. I always felt like that she never trusted herself or her own instincts because if she did the things she wanted to do, it led her to a very dark and bad place. I think she's very repressed. Sometimes that happens in life. You meet people - male, female, old, young - and you have a chemistry with them and it's unexplainable. I think that it's quite scary. Clearly, [Gavin] enhances that.
Joe and Gavin are pretty stubborn in their beliefs. How do you see the characters in The Ledge?
I would say that I feel that the actors brought more substance to it. I didn't see them as completely black and white. I think that's what interesting in the story: that idea of "Don't judge a book by its cover." "What you see is what you get" - it's not very true in this situation because they've had such colorful experiences. In that moment, maybe their views are black and white, but ultimately you see that comes from the loss and pain they've all experienced.
Without giving away any spoilers, there's a very dramatic, emotional scene involving your character at the end of The Ledge. What kind of direction did you get to prepare for that scene?
Actually to be honest, Matthew and I did get on that day. I didn't scream at him, but I kind of got angry at him at one point in the day. Because the shooting schedule was so tight, I sat bound to a chair with a ball in my mouth literally for about six hours and didn't get a close-up until they said, "Sorry we have to wrap now. This day is over." I had maybe a minute to do all that performance ... It was so rushed and not fair in a way to me. I was really mad about that.
So you were really tortured in order to do that scene?
Yes, but I didn't have to stay like that. I did that for Patrick because I wanted to be able to be fully present for him. Making movies this small, when you really don't have a lot of time is hard, because at the end of the day all the creative people want to make the best movie possible, but where the money comes from - the producers - yes, they want to make the best movie, but they also want to make the cheapest movie possible. I don't mean that in a critical way. It is what it is. There's no more money. When it's the 10th hour or the 12th hour, there is no overtime. You have to walk away and it's really hard sometimes, because if you didn't get to finish everything that you wanted to or realize everything that you wanted to, to let it go is really hard.
Early in your film career, you did blockbuster films like Armageddon and The Lord of the Rings movies, but recently you've been doing low-budget independent films, such as The Ledge and Super. Do you find working on lower-budget films more challenging?
Well, it's interesting because a lot of these films might not get made if they weren't made in that form. And so that's great, because these interesting projects are getting to actually happen. It was really fun for to make [The Ledge] and to make Super. The last film I had done before that was The Incredible Hulk, and I had taken a year off and I hadn't worked. It was really interesting. On The Incredible Hulk, we could go double-time and triple-time to shoot for 24 hours if we wanted to, and had all the money in the world to some extent. To make a movie like [The Ledge] where everyone is init for the passion of the project, it's kind of thrilling in a way too to think, "OK, you've got this much money, these people and this many days. Go!" There's a thrill in that to test yourself in that and see what you can get done.
Speaking of The Incredible Hulk, you played the Hulk/Bruce Banner's love interest, Betty Ross, in that movie. So are you going to be involved in The Avengers movie, since the Hulk/Bruce Banner character is in The Avengers?
I don't know. I don't think so. I would probably know about it if I was. I'm not sure. I can't answer. I kind of know some things but I can't say, I don't think.
Your Shana character in The Ledge is a hotel maid. Do you think you've gotten better at making beds now that you've played a maid?
I didn't have much time to practice. No, I just kind of winged it. I did want to go there and spend a day with a maid and watch her make a bed, but it didn't happen.
Your father, Steven Tyler, wrote the memoir "Does the Noise in My Head Bother You?" Have you read the book yet?
I started to read his autobiography. It's a funny thing reading your parents' autobiographies. My mom has a book too, and it's just one of things where as a human you want to know more about your parents and the way they see things and the things that have happened to them. But as a child, maybe ignorance is bliss. It's a complicated experience reading a book like that about your parents.
What surprised you the most about your father being a judge on American Idol?
I can't say that is surprised me. He surprises me all the time, just as a person. I find him [to be] magical and crazy. Honestly, the biggest feeling I've had about that whole thing is I feel so proud of him as a person, because as a family we had a really rough couple of years. It was not easy, and he pulled himself out of a really hard place, and really worked hard at it. I know it wasn't easy for him. For "Idol" to come up and present itself to him, for him to be brave enough to take that experience at his age to do something completely new and different, he was ready for it. I see him really happy right now. He's filled with light. And it's so sweet to see the world discover his personality for the first time, because that's the part [of him] that I know so well. People know his music, but I didn't even know that they didn't know that part of him.
What's next for you?
I'm not sure what movies I'm going to make. I have not been so focused on making movies in the past couple of years, because I've been through a lot of personal stuff. With my son, we moved to Los Angeles, and then we moved back [to New York] this year. He just started kindergarten this year. I didn't even read a script, honestly, for about six months because I don't want to be tempted to go away and work. I knew that I couldn't leave him. I had to get used to being a parent of a kid in school and create some stability for him. So I'm just now starting to focus and read a lot [of scripts]. I have a couple of things that I'm attached to that I'm hoping [to do]. I'm just not sure exactly what's happening. We'll see.

Liv's half-sister Mia (the second daughter of Steven Tyler), whom Liv never saw before, was in that concert too.
When Liv saw that she looked remarkably like her, she had no doubt - Steven Tyler's daugher is her sister - which means that the man who's performing on stage is her father.
Later that evening, Liv's mom told her the truth: "I turned to my mom and said, 'He's my father, isn't he ?', and we went out under a tree and talked and cried for two hours."

Career
When Liv was 14 she moved back with her mom to NY.
A friend of the family, Paulina Porizkova - a famous model herself - convinced Liv to start modeling - and the rest is history ...

At age 17, Liv filmed her third movie - Empire Records (1995), but her breakthrough came from her next film - Stealing Beauty (1996).
The legendary director Bernardo Bertolucci chose Liv over hundreds of actresses.
Liv got acclaims on her performance, and was the highlight of '96 Cannes film festival where giant photos of her peered placidly from billboards all over town.

After the divorce from her husband in 2008, Liv took another 2 years off. Liv will come back to the silver screen in 2011 with two new movies:

Freida Pinto was born in Mumbai, India, on October 18, 1984. Her father is a banker, while her mother is the principal of a High School. But since she had no acting experience, they put her through an entire process of auditioning for six months. “The first time I read with the casting director and the second time on it was with Danny Boyle. I would go in probably once a month, sometimes twice a month and every time I’d go in for an audition Danny would say ‘Fantastic. I’ll see you again’. So every time he said that I’d say, ‘Okay, maybe in three days’. 30 days! He’d just keep me waiting for 30 days. I think every time I went in was fun. I’m not complaining because I think it was literally like going to an acting school and I think it was necessary because since I had absolutely no acting experience besides the amateur theatre that I’d done.”
Boyle followed his gut feeling and Freida was cast as Latika, the long-lost love interest of the movie’s main character, Jamal (played by the talented Dev Patel). “I put 23 years of research into this film, not knowing I was going to play this part”, Freida said. When Slumdog Millionaire premiered at the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival in September 2008, the movie and its stars received rave reviews. Viewers have described the movie with words as “a masterpiece” and “one in a million”. And it truly is.
Already at the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival, Freida received the “People’s Choice” award, and has since then been honored with a “Breakthrough Performance” award at the 2009 Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards as well as a BAFTA nomination for “Best Supporting Actress”. Slumdog Millionaire itself was nominated for practically every major award at every ceremony, and won Golden Globes for “Best Motion Picture – Drama”, “Best Director”, “Best Original Screenplay” and “Best Adapted Screenplay”. The Oscar buzz continued to surround the movie as it won all the major awards at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, Writers Guild Awards, Directors Guild Awards and the U.K. based BAFTA Awards. So on Oscar-night, February 22 2009, it was no surprise to see it win eight of the ten awards it was nominated for. Among them was Best Movie, Best Director, Best Screenplay and more.
Not only the movie itself was the hot topic during award season, but the relationship between Freida Pinto and co-star Dev Patel as well. Were they dating or not? During dussins of interviews they both said “only friends”. But it was later to be confirmed that they were, indeed, in love as the pair confirmed the rumors to be true by attending several events holding hands and kissing. Freida and Dev are still going strong, with Freida saying “Well, like I say, there’s Skype, but we also know that to make it work we have to meet in the middle. On the night of the Oscars Freida announced that she would star in a movie directed and written by Woody Allen. The movie, later revealed to be titled You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, was filmed in London, England during the summer of 2009. Also starring are Naomi Watts, Antonio Banderas, Josh Brolin, Anthony Hopkins, Lucy Punch and Gemma Jones. The movie premiered to mostly good reviews at the Cannes Film Festival on May 15, 2010. Due to filming commitments Freida wasn’t able to attend the world famous film festival, but she did promote the movie at the Toronto Film Festival in September. When talking about when she met Allen, Freida said “I would describe my meeting with Woody Allen as ‘different’. He’s a shy and reticent director but one with a beautiful vision. It’s a dream-come-true since I was a literature student and I studied Woody Allen’s plays back in college.”
Freida kept busy the entire spring of 2009 as well, as she filmed the movie Miral in Jerusalem. The film is directed by Julian Schnabel and centers around Hind Husseini’s effort to establish an orphanage in Jerusalem after the 1948 partition of Palestine and the creation of the state of Israel. Freida Pinto portrays the title character of Miral. The movie premiered at the Venice Film Festival on September 2, 2011. Miral is about Hind Husseini who comes across 55 orphaned children in the street. She takes them home to give them food and shelter. Within six months, 55 had grown to almost 2000, and the Dar Al-Tifel Institute was born. Then, at the age of 7, Miral is sent to the Institute by her father following her mother’s death. Brought up safely inside the Institute’s walls, she is naïve to the troubles that surround her. Then, at 17, she is assigned to teach at a refugee camp where she is awakened to the reality of her people’s struggle. When she falls for political activist, Hani, she finds herself torn between the fight for the future of her people and Mama Hind’s belief that education is the road to peace. On what drew her to the movie, Freida said “The moment I read the script, I fell in love with the story, because it wasn’t just a story about four women; it was a story of the people of Israel and Palestine. I felt if there were any way I could be part of this peacemaking process by lending a human touch to the character, I wanted to be involved. I wish people would [remember]that there are children and soldiers dying on both sides. You can’t ignore the politics, but hopefully that won’t become the focus of the film.”
The movie was faced with some tough reviews due to it’s touchy subject about the conflict between Israel and Palestine. Director Julian Schnabel had a hard time fighting for a the rating he thought the movie deserved, as MPAA wanted to give it an R-rating. After a lot of struggling, the movie finally got the PG-13 Schnabel wanted. Miral wasn’t even given a chance with the audience as it never went into a wider release than 29 theaters. Despite this, Miral has been given some rave reviews as well, especially from actor Johnny Depp who said “Julian Schnabel’s film is a unique and courageous glimpse into one woman’s painful journey. It is an epic peom teetering on the dge of a dagger. See it an decide to yourself.” Actor Javier Bardem was also one of the fighters for the movie, saying “The beauty of Julian Schnabel, he creates art that inspires discussion for world leaders & also touches the rest of us mere mortals on a very human and primitive level.”
In February 2010 Variety reported that Freida were to take part in yet another movie; War of the Gods. She plays Phaedra, an oracle priestess who must join Theseus (played by Henry Cavill) on his quest to prevent the cataclysmic war between the gods from erupting. This project, directed by Tarsem Singh, started filming in April in Montreal, Canada. The film would later be renamed Immortals and have cast members such as Mickey Rourke, Isabel Lucas, Stephen Dorff, Luke Evans, Kellan Lutz and more. Immortals is scheduled for a release on November 11, 2011.
But this wasn’t enough for Freida, as she’s contnued straight from the sets of Immortals to start filming the prequel to Planet of the Apes, called Rise of the Planet of the Apes. She portrays the primatologist Caroline in the “origin story set in present day San Francisco, where man’s own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy”. The movie also stars James Franco, John Lithgow, Brian Cox and Andy Serkins. Rise of the Apes will be released on August 5, 2011.
Another project set to be released in the near future is Black Gold, set in the 1930s Arab states at the dawn of the oil boom, about a young Arab prince torn between allegiance to his conservative father and modern, liberal father-in-law. In the movie, Freida portrays princess Lallah alongside Antonio Banderas, Mark Strong, Tahir Rahim and Riz Ahmed. The movie was filmed in Tunisia during the civil war, with Freida describing the filming as “Terrifying. People were burning down shops and malls; there was killing and bloodshed. I was stuck in this massive hotel with 354 rooms and only six guests. The lights kept shutting down, and there was a 5:00 P.M. curfew. But I wasn’t there by myself: Dev came down to see me. I was so glad I had company.” Black Gold is set to premiere at the 2011 Doha International Film Festival later this year.
Freida’s also starring in the new movie Trishna, once again acting against Riz Ahmed. Trishna is the story of the tragic relationship between the son (Riz Ahmed) of a property developer and the daughter (Freida Pinto as Trishna) of an auto rickshaw owner. Look forward to this movie in 2012.
Freida’s blossoming movie career isn’t all she’s got going for her; during the ’09 award season Miss Pinto emerged as a style-icon, having the most raved and talked-about outfits of the season. In March 2009 she was invited to sit front row at the Fashion Week in Paris and Milan. But her fashion-related career didn’t stop there, as she was announced as a new spokesmodel for L’Oreal Paris later in 2009. “I am very moved to be joining the great L’Oreal Paris family and all these personalities: a family I am now proud to be a part of”, Freida said of joining the worldwide beauty brand. Before joining OVERHAULIN' on TLC as a Co-Host, Adrienne hosted several shows on E! Entertainment and landed the role as host of a pilot called The Music Café. She also works as a spokesperson for the Coca-Cola company representing Fanta soda.
Adrienne Janic ,"AJ" , was born and raised in Whittier, CA to ethnically diverse parents. Her mother is from Mexico and her father is from Yugoslavia. That made for some fantastic family dinners ! She was a natural entertainer–acting and dancing on stage from the age of six–and her passion for performing continued throughout junior high and high school.
After graduating, A.J attended Rio Hondo Community College in Whittier, CA, obtaining her degree in communications and theater. During that time A.J. competed in the Ford Supermodel of the World Contest. When she made it to the local division semi-finals she was immediately signed to the FORD modeling agency in Los Angeles. Before accepting the offer, Adrienne told the network executive, “Before I answer yes, I want you to know that I know absolutely nothing about cars. He told me not to worry, ‘that is exactly what we want, for you to ask all the questions that people would normally be asking at home.' So, I said, yes.”

We’ve got good news, and we’ve got bad news. The bad news is that The CW’s freshman series “Hellcats” has been canceled, as first reported by Deadline. The cheerleading drama, executive produced by “Smallville” star Tom Welling and Kevin Murphy and led by former Disney stars Ashley Tisdale and Aly Michalka was one of Zap2it’s early favorites in the 2010-2011 season.
Unfortunately, the series floundered undeniably in its back nine episodes, relying heavily on gimmicks (like Zombies and musical numbers) and stunt casting (A.J. Michalka and Ciara) and shelving the intriguing love triangle that was the heart of the initial episodes.
With this cancellation, The CW makes room for three new dramas – “The Ringer,” “Secret Circle,” and “Hart of Dixie” – and (here’s the good news) can hang onto “Nikita,” its only other drama from the 2010-2011 season. “Nikita’s” first season ended on May 12 on a creative high, launching a bold storyline that will take the series in a significantly new direction for Season 2. We’re thrilled by this pickup and interested to see where it lands in the schedule, to be announced May 19.
The network’s other bubble show, veteran soap “One Tree Hill,” will also live on for at least 13 episodes.

Biography
The Early Years
Alyson Renae Michalka was born on March 25, 1989 in Torrance, California to Mark and Carrie Michalka. Two years later in 1991, Alyson became a big sister to Amanda (AJ) Michalka. Alyson developed a passion for acting and music through her involvement in the Children’s’ Performing Arts group at her church. She began seriously studying acting at the age of 11, at which time she also began working as a professional print model.
Alyson’s “Big Break”
It wasn’t until Alyson was 14 years old when she landed her first professional role as “Keely” on The Disney Channel’s now canceled series “Phil of the Future”. “Phil of the Future” became an instant hit in the Summer of 2004 when it premiered. The show was unfortunately canceled in late 2005 in their 2nd season. In January of 2005 Alyson starred in the Disney Channel Original Movie “Now You See It…”. She portrayed a girl named Allyson Miller who was a segment producer of a reality-type show in search of “real” magicians. During this time Alyson gained great popularity with Disney Channel viewers.
Aly & AJ: The Beginning
Alyson and her sister Amanda (formerly Aly & AJ, currently 78violet) made a music video for “Now You See It…”, which covered the classic song “Do You Believe In Magic”. That music video would be the first of several music videos that Aly & AJ recorded for Disney. In March of 2005 they wrote & recorded an original song called “No One” for the movie “Ice Princess” and with that released another music video.
In June of 2005 they covered the classic song “Walking On Sunshine” and made a music video of it for the “Herbie: Fully Loaded” Soundtrack. While all these music videos were being released Aly & AJ were hard at work on writing and recording their debut album. They released a Deluxe Edition of their album “Into the Rush” feautring a new single called “Chemicals React” , and released a Christmas CD entitled “Acoustic Hearts of Winter” with the song “Greatest Time Of Year” that was used on the Santa Clause 3 Soundtrack. In 2007 they released their sophomore album entitled “Insomniatic”, with their first single “Potential Breakup Song”. The girls continued to tour, and took some time off to write a new album and pursue their acting desires.
Aly & AJ Acting Together!
In late Summer of 2005 Alyson shot the Disney Channel Original Movie “Cow Belles” with her sister Amanda, the movie premiered March 24th 2006. Alyson played the character of Taylor Callum, a wealthy teenage girl who is forced to work in the family business in order to learn responsibility, but when things go wrong it’s up to Taylor and her sister Courtney to save the day.
In November of 2005 Alyson and her sister Amanda shot a tv show pilot called “Haversham Hall” for the Disney Channel, it was unfortunately not picked up. However Aly & AJ filmed a movie for MTV called “Super Sweet 16: The Movie”, a movie version of the popular MTV show which aired on the channel in 2007. Aly & AJ also worked with MTV on a potential new series, but it was never picked up.
A New Era: 78violet
In July of 2009, Aly & AJ announced the change of their group name from “Aly & AJ” to “78violet”. In August 2009, “The Next Worst Thing” from 78violet’s upcoming album was played/previewed on KROQ radio. 78violet are hoping to release their first album under their name sometime in 2010.

Alyson decided that she wanted to do some movies sans Amanda. In August 2009, the movie “Bandslam” was released to theaters. Alyson portrayed the character Charlotte Banks, a complex character who’s in a band. In 2009, Alyson was also cast in the movies “Easy A” and “The Roommate”, both movies are due out in 2010.

Alyson Renae "Aly" Michalka (born March 25, 1989), often credited as Aly, is an American actress, singer-songwriter, and musician. Michalka gained fame for playing the role of Marti Perkins in the CW television drama Hellcats. She was also known for her roles as Keely Teslow in the Disney Channel original series Phil of the Future, Charlotte Barnes in the film Bandslam, Taylor Callum in the Disney Channel Original Movie Cow Belles, Rhiannon Abernathy in the Golden Globe-nominated teen film Easy A and as Tracy Morgan in the thriller The Roommate. She is also known as one-half of the musical duo 78violet (formerly Aly & AJ) with her sister Amanda Michalka.
Biography
The Early Years
Alyson Renae Michalka was born on March 25, 1989 in Torrance, California to Mark and Carrie Michalka. Two years later in 1991, Alyson became a big sister to Amanda (AJ) Michalka. Alyson developed a passion for acting and music through her involvement in the Children’s’ Performing Arts group at her church. She began seriously studying acting at the age of 11, at which time she also began working as a professional print model.
Alyson’s “Big Break”
It wasn’t until Alyson was 14 years old when she landed her first professional role as “Keely” on The Disney Channel’s now canceled series “Phil of the Future”. “Phil of the Future” became an instant hit in the Summer of 2004 when it premiered. The show was unfortunately canceled in late 2005 in their 2nd season. In January of 2005 Alyson starred in the Disney Channel Original Movie “Now You See It…”. She portrayed a girl named Allyson Miller who was a segment producer of a reality-type show in search of “real” magicians. During this time Alyson gained great popularity with Disney Channel viewers.
Aly & AJ: The Beginning
Alyson and her sister Amanda (formerly Aly & AJ, currently 78violet) made a music video for “Now You See It…”, which covered the classic song “Do You Believe In Magic”. That music video would be the first of several music videos that Aly & AJ recorded for Disney. In March of 2005 they wrote & recorded an original song called “No One” for the movie “Ice Princess” and with that released another music video.
In June of 2005 they covered the classic song “Walking On Sunshine” and made a music video of it for the “Herbie: Fully Loaded” Soundtrack. While all these music videos were being released Aly & AJ were hard at work on writing and recording their debut album. In August of 2005 they released their debut album “Into the Rush”, featuring 12 original tracks written by Aly & AJ, as well as 2 songs that they covered. The album has since when gold, and in January of 2006 their 1st offical music video & single “Rush” was released. Aly & AJ went on sold-out tour with “The Cheetah Girls” in late 2005. They also have performed on various shows & specials such as: The Menu, Hope Rocks, Live with Regis & Kelly, America’s Got Talent, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade & Walt Disney World’s Christmas Day Parade.
